I was happy that we arrived well before game time so that we could explore the Rose Bowl without needing to rush. It was a 7:30 pm game which meant we got to enjoy the sunset. I was very pleased with the view from our seats. Our seats were in the end zone which I really liked. However, since 1922 this venue has hosted some incredible athletes, musicians, and moments. Yes, part of that has to do with my love for UCLA and the state of California. This is by far the most special football venue that I have been to. Of course, I loved the souvenir UCLA cup!īe sure to check out the Court of Champions which you can see in the background of the picture above. The food at the stadium was surprisingly good. I also picked up a free poster and a few other goodies. ![]() We all received a small blue hand towel with the number of a player who had recently died. I loved walking around to see the booths that had been set up. The parking lot is in the Parsons structure off of Fair Oaks Avenue. Plus, it is easier to leave at the end of the game. It was around $12 which is a better price than the on-site parking lot. On my most recent trip to the Rose Bowl, I parked on an offsite lot and took a shuttle to the game. It took quite a while to get out once we found our car as well. For the game, we parked on the nearby golf course and had a hard time finding our car after the game. One very important thing we learned was to avoid parking at the stadium in the future. My first visit to the Rose Bowl was a few years ago when my parents and I went to a UCLA football game. It will feature over 35 local small businesses, four Food Trucks, and drawings for donated items…including a Caribbean cruise for two donated by Grueninger Music Tours, the travel agency assisting the band with their itinerary. The event will take place on Saturday, May 13, from 9AM to 1PM. The band is sponsoring a Vendor Fair in the high school parking lot. However, one of the most visible fundraisers of the year will be this coming weekend at Niceville High School. In addition, local organizations and businesses have stepped up to provide sponsorships to offset some of the cost. Over the last few months, students have been fundraising for the trip in various ways, such as a Daily Dose fundraiser, Super 50/50 drawing, and sales of items such as chocolate bars and spa gift cards. The cost includes a flight in a charter airplane from Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport to Los Angeles, charter bus transportation around the city, hotel accommodations, and meals during the six-day trip. ![]() The students are responsible for raising $3250 per person for the trip. Getting the students, chaperones, and directors to the parade is no small feat. For most bands, even getting a second invitation to march is an accomplishment the Eagle Pride joins a rare group of organizations invited back for a third time. On January 1, 2024, while millions of people are preparing to watch some of the best college football games later in the day, approximately 250 students from the Niceville High School Eagle Pride Marching Band will be representing Okaloosa County on the national stage by marching in the 2024 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.Īnnually, the parade attracts over 37 million television viewers and approximately 700,000 spectators. ![]()
